BIO
The Prophet of Soul, known as “Prophet” and by stage name “DJ Shawny B”, is an Open Format, Club, Lounge and Private Event DJ with experience in high profile celebrity parties and radio mix shows.
Born and raised in The Bronx, New York, during the early years of Hip-Hop, he experienced the culture firsthand. As a kid, he’d listen to Kool Herc from the rooftop of The Sparkle or witness Grandmaster Flash at Park Jams on Webster Ave. Hip-Hop is in his DNA and has shaped his path as both an artist and DJ.
Early on, the family relocated to Anchorage, Alaska, where he and his brothers, Bill Blast and Abdul Rasheed, pioneered Emceeing and DJ’ing in the Northwest. Over the years, he went on to produce music for countless underground artists while earning respect on stages alongside icons such as MC Lyte, LL Cool J, Whodini, En Vogue and Iroc Omega.
As a DJ, he’s spun sets at high-profile events and celebrity parties for Def Comedy Jam, Snoop Dogg, Uncle Luke, Ice Cube & The Westside Connection and Kid Capri as well as appearing on numerous radio mix shows, most notably The Friday Night Mix with The Legendary Kool DJ Reggie Ward.
Today, based in Las Vegas, Prophet continues his mission: deliver music that transcends boundaries and resonates with people of ALL backgrounds.
At the core, Prophet embodies the roots of ALL music genres, connecting diverse cultures through rhythm and soul. Prophet’s work reflects a steadfast belief in music as a vehicle for freedom, expression and meaningful connection that transcends art.
